The Sedgwick County (Kansas) Commission has unanimously denied an application to build a construction and demolition debris landfill in south Wichita, Kan., according to a report in the Wichita Eagle (Wichita, Kan.).
The application to build the landfill was submitted by Bob Bergkamp Construction, which operates a rock crushing business on the same site where it proposed to build the landfill. The company had also applied to extend its special permit to 2012, but the commission denied that request as well. The extension request has been sent to the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission for further discussion, according to the report.
