Construction equipment maker JCB Inc., with global headquarters in the United Kingdom and a United States business unit in Savannah, Georgia, will provide more than $1.3 million worth of equipment to construction and demolition materials recycling firm Sortera in the U.K.

Sortera, which describes itself as “the leading independent construction waste management company in London,” has announced a significant fleet investment of more than $1.3 million in new JCB mobile machinery.

“This strategic upgrade marks a key milestone in Sortera’s drive to deliver faster, more efficient and more reliable services across its expanding network,” the recycling company says.

JCB will supply Sortera with a diverse range of new vehicles, including material handlers and excavators including the JS20MH, 86C-2 and 220X models.

The new equipment has been deployed at five different Sortera C&D recycling depots in Wembley, Harlow, Uxbridge, Tottenham and Rochford, England. The operations comprise a business unit of the Sweden-based Sortera Group, a recycling company with more than 1,000 employees worldwide.

At those sites, Sortera says the JCB equipment will enhance on-site efficiency, reduce downtime and strengthen material handling capabilities across a wide range of projects.

“This investment is about strengthening our core operations with equipment we know we can trust,” says Ian Wilkinson, operations director at Sortera in the U.K. “JCB’s machinery is a proven asset in our sector, and this upgrade ensures we’re ready to meet growing client demand and continue to lead in construction waste solutions.”

“Sortera approached Greenshields JCB (GCJB) with a clear intention to achieve operational excellence across all of its locations, to a defined and optimised cost model,” says James Richardson, managing director of Farnham, England-based equipment dealership Greenshields JCB. “This involved jointly assessing the detailed requirements at each site and benchmarking best practices within their existing operations to identify suitable machinery, finance and aftersales solutions.

“We look forward to supporting Sortera in achieving [its] growth objectives and are grateful for the selection of GJCB as their supplier of choice and the investments that they are making in the JCB product.”

According to Sortera, it intends to continue expanding its fleet with more investments in a wider variety of JCB machinery during the rest of the year, part of its long-term commitment to infrastructure growth and operational excellence.

Sortera says its equipment orders reflect its “continued commitment to investing in best-in-class technology and infrastructure to support scalable growth.”
