Mobile material handling equipment manufacturer JCB hosted the annual Lady Bamford Center (LBC) Christmas Extravaganza Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, in Savannah, Georgia. As part of JCB’s support of LBC, the company purchased Christmas presents for each child, which were presented by Santa and Mrs. Claus and their JCB sleigh. The event included a grand entrance by the Clauses, present distribution, story time with Santa, Mrs. Claus and their elves and LBC children singing carols.
“The Christmas Extravaganza is always a favorite event for those of us at JCB,” says Thom Peebles, vice president of marketing for JCB North America. “To see the delight of the children as Santa enters on his sleigh and to watch the excitement on their faces as they meet Santa and receive their own present from him is an experience unlike any other. JCB is honored to be able to create this experience for these children.”
Operated by Wesley Community Centers of Savannah, the Lady Bamford Center provides education and social skills development to children from six weeks to 5 years of age. Located at 1410 Richard Street in West Savannah, the center offers priority admission to children from homeless and low-income families, as well as to children with physical, mental or emotional challenges. Its interactive curriculum prepares young children for kindergarten and elementary school and helps them compete with other children academically.
The Lady Bamford Center, which was opened in 2007 by the Lady Carole Bamford, wife of JCB Chairman Lord Anthony Bamford, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Fewer than 8 percent of all early childhood centers in the United States receive this prestigious honor, JCB says.
