Israel’s Environmental Protection Ministry has launched a construction and demolition debris enforcement unit, according to a report in the Jerusalem Post.
The unit will include 11 inspectors who will be responsible for combating illegal dumping of C&D material in the country. The unit will operate under the Nature and Parks Authority.
According to the report, much of the 7 million tons of C&D debris produced per year in Israel is illegally dumped in open spaces, including along roads and in parking lots near natural forests.
