Irock introduces new mobile crusher

Model RDS-15 has been designed for recycled asphalt applications

Irock Crushers, a Valley View, Ohio maker of screening and crushing equipment, has introduced its RDS-15 Horizontal Impact Crushing Plant. The RDS stands for rapid deployment system, according to Irock. The model is designed to provide “exceptional portability and rapid set-up time.”

The RDS-15 can process a variety of products, says Irock, but it is “ideal for processing smaller materials such as reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP),” according to the company.

The new model, which is powered by a 350-horsepower Caterpillar C-9 ACERT Tier 3 engine, can process up to 350 tons per hour, says Irock. The plant is self-contained with the onboard engine supplying full plant operational power.

The RDS-15’s closed circuit design gives operators an option to recirculate material that requires further sizing. By closing a flop gate, the two decks can feed onto the 24- inch return conveyor, which drops the material back into the crusher. This design enables 20 percent more production than some competing machines, says Irock, and can help lead to lower labor costs, less fuel consumption and lower operating expenses.

The machine features a 5-foot-by-14-foot, double-deck huck-bolted screen frame and a heavy-duty, 40-inches-by-14-feet vibrating grizzly feeder. The two-step, tapered grizzly is designed to remove fines and only allow materials that need to be sized into the crusher, reducing potential wear on the crusher and boosting efficiency.

The RDS-15 also features Irock’s four-bar impactor design, with blow bars that can be removed, flipped and re-installed for a second life cycle. The new unit also features a dust suppression system.

Catwalks that are included enable easier screen changeouts and are designed to provide convenient access to crucial maintenance and cleaning points.

Regarding its portability and quick set-up, the mobile crusher can be hooked up to a truck and hauled as one unit.
