Proposals for an interstate highway expansion and rerouting process being considered in El Paso, Texas, could entail the demolition of up to 30 commercial and residential buildings in that city.
An early March online article by the El Paso Times indicates three proposals for the proposed Interstate 10 project are being considered by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), with at least one of the three entailing significant amounts of demolition activity. Those three proposals have been selected from an original pool of nine, says the newspaper.
A website designed to provide information to the public about the project includes additional details about the three remaining proposals.
TxDOT is seeking public comment, including via the website, before it will reportedly select its preferred alternative from among the three proposals in 2023.
