A North Vernon, Ind., producer and distributor of ready-mixed concrete has been indicted by a federal grand jury for fixing the price of ready-mixed concrete in three Indiana counties, according to a report in the Jackson County Tribune (Seymour, Ind.).
The Tribune reports that according to the indictment filed in the U.S. District Court in Indianapolis, Lee’s Ready Mix & Trucking Inc. was charged with participating in a conspiracy to fix the price at which the material was sold in Jackson, Jennings and Bartholomew counties from February 2003 to June 2004.
The company has a contract with the Jackson County Highway Department and the city of Seymour, Ind., according to the report.
The Tribune reports that the company is charged with price-fixing in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act, which, at the time of the offense, carried a maximum fine of $10 million.
