Neighbors’ complaints have urged city zoning officials in Fort Wayne, Ind., to review an asphalt recycling facility in town, according to a report in the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel.
According to the report, Fort Wayne-based Brooks Construction Co. secured the board’s approval to stockpile asphalt at its Ardmore Avenue location for recycling in 2004.
Since then, some nearby residents have complained the noise and dust generated by the facility have become nuisances.
Sam Etemadi of Brooks Construction tells the News-Sentinel that so far, the company has only stockpiled asphalt and the actual recycling process won’t begin until next year.
The board routinely requires status checks with public hearings where it evaluates projects, according to the report.
