The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, Ill., is working with other county officials to develop a construction and demolition debris recycling ordinance to help boost the county’s recycling rate to the desired 50 percent, according to a report in the Deerfield Review (Waukegan, Ill.).
According to the report, the proposed ordinance would require contractors and developers of major housing or commercial developments in unincorporated areas to submit plans for recycling at least 30 percent of their C&D material.
Peter Adrian, the agency’s recycling coordinator, tells the Deerfield Review that the county may consider the ordinance in August or September.
