Ken Galason has been appointed as president of recycling equipment maker Harris, Peachtree City, Ga.
Galason will remain based in Cordele, Ga., at the Harris office and assembly plant there, according to a news release issued by the company. He assumed his new role as president effective in mid-July.
Galason joined Harris in 2009 as vice president of operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Southern Illinois University and has more than 15 years of manufacturing operations experience, according to the company.
“Harris will be driven by the voice of the customer [and] will lead the industry in quality, innovation, and performance,” says Galason. “I firmly believe our employees are our biggest asset to accomplish this mission,” he adds.
Jim Slattery, chief operating officer for North America for Melrose, Harris’s parent company, remarks, “Harris is well managed and continues to make great strides forward. The sales and marketing team, led by Doug Sebastian, is the strongest in the industry and Harris’ new technologies and products will greatly improve the value offered to customers.”
Harris designs, makes and supports scrap processing, recycling and waste handling equipment, including two-ram, horizontal and vertical balers designed to handle recovered paper, cardboard, nonferrous metals and plastics, plus shears, balers and shredders for ferrous metals.
