Doug Sebastian retires from Harris

Equipment sales veteran retains a consulting role with Harris.

Doug Sebastian, former vice president of sales and marketing at Harris Waste Management Group Inc., has retired from that position effective July 17, 2015.

The Georgia-based equipment maker says Sebastian will serve as a consultant to the company “for an indefinite period of time” to work on specific projects assigned by Harris and its parent company Avis Industrial Corp.

Sebastian began his employment with Harris in August of 1993 as a regional sales manager for the Midwest region. In 1995, he accepted the position of vice president of sales and marketing and relocated his family from Ohio to Georgia.

In a news release announcing the retirement, the company states, “Since Avis’ purchase of Harris on Dec. 31, 2013, Doug’s leadership has been invaluable in the area of sales and knowledge of equipment and the industry, as well as strong customer relationships. We wish Doug all the best and are grateful for his continued involvement at Harris.”

Sebastian says, “I would like to thank all of you for your support, dedication and cooperation over the years. It has been a pleasure working with each of you and I have enjoyed my 22 years here. Avis has been kind to recognize my efforts. For that, I am most grateful and look forward to continue working with Harris and Avis as a consultant. My retirement message is simple: ‘Work hard when you need to, work hard as a team and give your best to the company without calculating your returns; they will come in due time.’”
