Gypsum Wallboard and Biomass Energy Plant Proposed in Eastern Canada

Saint John, New Brunswick could be home to two new facilities.

 

J.D. Irving Ltd. has submitted plans for a biomass energy and gypsum wallboard plant at the former Saint John Shipyard site in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, according to a report in the Daily Gleaner (Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada).

 

Submissions to register the plants with the province’s environmental impact assessment program were received July 6, according to the report.

 

The proposed power plant would be fueled by wood debris and would generate 15 megawatts of power per hour for the wallboard plant, the Gleaner reports.
