Gypsum Companies Settle Patent Litigation

G-P Gypsum Corp. and BPB America Inc. settle two-year-old lawsuit.

G-P Gypsum Corp. and BPB America Inc. have announced an agreement to settle all claims and counterclaims relating to a patent infringement suit filed by G-P Gypsum in September 2003.

The suit, which was scheduled to go to trial in June, alleged that BPB’s GlasRoc exterior sheathing infringed upon five G-P Gypsum patents.

Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will dismiss their claims against each other and both companies will continue to manufacture their respective products.

G-P Gypsum Corp. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Georgia-Pacific Corp., which is headquartered in Atlanta and manufactures tissue, packaging, paper and building products.

BPB America, headquartered in Tampa, Fla., supplies gypsum wallboard, plasters, insulation, ceiling tiles and related products for structure interiors.
