Green Tech Transfer & Recycling, located in South Bend, Ind., has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) to promote and grow its wood recycling and asphalt shingle recycling business in northern Indiana.
Green Tech will use the grant to purchase equipment to expand the company’s recycling services. The company, which opened in 2008, operates on 33 acres and offers solid waste disposal, mixed C&D recycling, paper recycling, concrete recycling and demolition services.
According to its website (www.greentechtransferandrecycling.com), the company sorts, bales and transloads a wide range of material. A the present time, the company handles C&D material, including shingles; concrete, asphalt, brick and block; wood, including wood pallets; ferrous and nonferrous metal; all grades of paper; electronic scrap; and some solid waste loads.
