New book discusses green building design for prospective homeowners.

A new book by Alex Wilson that provides homeowners information on creating sustainable, energy-efficient homes is now available, according to BuildingGreen Inc. and New Society Publishers.

The 256-page Your Green Home walks prospective homeowners through a range of options and actions for designing and building a green home. It contains more than 110 illustrations and includes advice on homebuilding decisions including:

  • How to find the right designer and builder
  • Where to build
  • Building materials
  • Energy-efficient design and renewable energy
  • Dealing with construction waste
  • Costs of building green

To serve needs for additional references for Your Green Home, Wilson’s company, BuildingGreen Inc., has launched an online, residential focused bibliography. At www.BuildingGreen.com/YourGreenHome, visitors will find a directory of other green building information resources. “I felt that this would be much more useful than providing static resources in the printed book,” says Wilson, founder of BuildingGreen. “Our staff will be updating this information all the time, so it will be much more up-to-date than a printed bibliography.”

BuildingGreen Inc. has been providing information on sustainable design and construction since its founding in 1985. Publications include Environmental Building News, the GreenSpec Directory of green building products, Green Building Products (a residential-focused directory) and the online Green Building Suite.
