Green Dealing

Green car dealership planned for South Florida.

A Miami car dealer plans to build a green dealership that will meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standard, according to a report in the Miami Herald.

Chrysler dealer Tamiami Automotive Group’s facility will be located on the 18-acre site of a former contaminated lumberyard, according to the report.

The privately-held Tamiami Automotive Group will be the first of Chrysler’s 3,700 dealerships to earn green building certification. It will sell Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge automobiles.

The dealership will be 400,000 square feet and will include 70 service bays and contain 1,000 cars. Green features will include use of natural light, biodegradable carpet and bike racks for employees.
