Genesis Attachments, based in Superior, Wis., has added the GXT 335 and GXT 995 straight and rotator models to its XT line of mobile shears.
With the number of models now at 12, the XT Mobile Shear line fits 27,000- to 180,000-pound excavators, Genesis says. Shorter in length and height and lighter in weight, the GXT line features a center of gravity that is closer to the excavator, allowing models to mount on excavators that previously could only carry smaller, less powerful shears, the company says.
GXT models feature an apex that is positioned closer to the back of the jaw where most of the cutting is done. The design is intended to improve material gathering, increase cutting performance and efficiency and reduce maintenance, Genesis says.
The company reports that additional GXT models are planned so that the line will ultimately fit 20,000- to 250,000-pound excavators.
