Freestate Farms LLC, an organic waste recycling company based in Manassas, Virginia, announced it is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its Balls Ford Road composting facility in Prince William, Virginia, on Sept. 16.
The newly designed facility, which was authorized by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in January 2015, touts a new aerobic composting system that will double the processing capacity of yard waste, food scraps and wood waste at the site.
The newly designed facility will also extend the life of the area’s landfill by reducing the amount of yard waste and food waste being buried and will create about 20 new jobs.
Representatives from Freestate Farms LLC and its partnering technology companies, along with elected officials and county leadership staff will take part in the ribbon-cutting event.
