Assets divested by General Motors during its June and July 2009 bankruptcy are now listed on a Web site operated by the court-appointed liquidating organization.
Motors Liquidation Co. (MLC), Detroit, has listed approximately 130 properties it is seeking to sell at www.motorsliquidation.com/PropertyList.aspx.
According to the firm’s Web site, it “contains both public and secure information about Motors Liquidation Company, its activities and its chapter 11 cases. [The] site will be updated as necessary to explain ongoing activity, including the chapter 11 claims process.”
Another statement on the MLC Web site refers to the likelihood that environmental remediation will be part of the process for the disposition of many of the listed properties. “Our objective is to work with local communities, developers and other stakeholders to resolve environmental-remediation obligations at the properties now under our control in a manner that protects public health and the environment while being consistent with the interests of creditors in the bankruptcy proceedings. We believe that the amounts allocated should be adequate to fund remediation at these sites, based in part upon estimates from nationally recognized environmental-management firms we have engaged to assist us in estimating what is required. We look forward to working with key stakeholders, including elected officials and environmental regulators, to arrive at mutually agreeable solutions that will expedite the remediations.”
Most of the property descriptions listed on the MLC Web site, which are scattered throughout the United States, urge those interested in finding out more to contact the MLC via e-mail at RealEstate@motorsliquidation.com.
