The DeSoto County (Fla.) Commission is set to award an exclusive franchise for the collection of solid waste to the county’s collector of construction and demolition debris, according to a report in the Sun Herald (Duluth, Minn.).
On July 12, the board approved a mandatory solid waste collection ordinance that will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2006, when all residents within the unincorporated area of DeSoto County will have to use the residential collection service provided by the county’s waste collection franchise.
