FirstEnergy Corp., Akron, Ohio, plans to expand the pollution controls system at its Bruce Mansfield power plant located in Shippingport, Pa., to nearly double the amount of gypsum produced there, according to a report in the Beaver County Times (Beaver, Pa.).
FirstEnergy wants to expand pollution controls at its forced-oxidation synthetic gypsum facility, or FOG plant, where it converts excess material collected by the air pollution controls’ scrubber system to gypsum, which is then recycled to manufacture wallboard, according to the report.
