Expansion Plan Goes Ahead at Maryland C&D Landfill

The first section of a 50-acre expansion by the Honeygo Run Reclamation Center in Perry Hall, Md., is expected to open in July, according to a report in the Northeast Booster (Towson, Md.).

The landfill accepts construction and demolition debris from Baltimore county and other areas as far away as New Jersey, according to the report.

Last year, approximately 306,000 tons of debris, including concrete, bricks, drywall, piping, shingles, lumber, wire, fiberglass and foam installation, were brought to the site, and some 130,000 tons were recycled or reused.

Of the 50 acres planned for the expansion, 38 acres will be filled with material, while 12 acres will be used for roads and a maintenance building, according to the report.

The landfill is owned by Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Republic Services and employs 13 people.
