The City Council of Escondido, Calif., has unanimously approved a proposal for an asphalt plant that is expected to create approximately 500 tons of material daily, according to a report in the San Diego Tribune.
The plant would be located at Escondido Sand & Gravel, a concrete and asphalt recycling facility.
Owner George Weir tells the Tribune that he expects production to begin in mid-October.
The city ordered an environmental study on the proposal, which was concluded and gave its approval in July.
