The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has cited Demolition Contractors Inc. (doing business as Pitsch Companies) for alleged violations of clean-air regulations at the company's concrete crushing plant in Walker, Mich.
EPA alleges that Demolition Contractors violated federal and state new source performance standards for nonmetallic mineral processing plants by exceeding limits on opacity, or the amount of light obscured by dust emissions.
These are preliminary findings of violations. To resolve them, EPA may issue a compliance order, assess an administrative penalty or bring suit against the company.
Demolition Contractors has 30 days from receipt of the notice to request a meeting with EPA to discuss the allegations and how to resolve them.
