An emergency demolition began July 2 after a fire damaged an abandoned warehouse in Dayton, Ohio, a report by the Dayton Daily News says. The fire swept through the building the night of June 30.
David Wright, Dayton Fire District chief, says in the report the city had to wait until the fire was completely out and all the hotspots were knocked down before crews could start the necessary preparations for demolition.
The building is being demolished while the fire investigation continues. Bryan Adams, Dayton Fire Department spokesperson, says in the report the debris removal will not happen until a later date.
Two 16-year-old juveniles have been arrested on charges connected to the fire. The report says the fire has been ruled as arson.
