DTG Recycle enters organics business with acquisition

DTG Recycle, Bothell, Washington, has announced its acquisition of Olympic Organics, Kingston, Washington, whose operations in Kingston and Bremerton, Washington, have long serviced Kitsap County and the surrounding areas.

Olympic Organics makes compost using local residential and commercial yard waste, prunings, grass clippings and commercially collected food waste.

With the acquisition, DTG adds new service capabilities and geographic areas to its business, according to a recent news release.

Area residents also will benefit from the introduction of mattress, expanded polystyrene (EPS), and construction and demolition (C&D) recycling that the company plans to add to the Olympic Organics locations.

“This acquisition further broadens our scope of services and continues our growth toward a fully integrated environmental services platform,” DTG Recycle CEO Tom Vaughn says. “We continually strive to align our service offerings and locations to meet our customers’ needs. Our customers have consistently voiced their desire to address their organics waste stream more sustainably. We are excited that we can now help them achieve their diversion goals while providing DTG Recycle with an exciting new growth opportunity.”

DTG has had a busy year, forming a C&D partnership with Azek Co., Chicago, and acquiring several companies in the past 12 months, including Cascade Recycling, Tacoma, Washington; Bobby Wolford Trucking & Salvage, Woodinville, Washington; Hungry Buzzard, Bothwell, Washington; Rolloff Recyclers, Woodinville, Washington; and Maltby Container & Recycling, Maltby, Washington.

The company also has benefited from a $32 million equity investment in 2020 by Clairvest Group Inc., Toronto.
