Doosan introduces two new excavators

The DX140W-5 and DX190W-5 are designed for applications that require rubber tires.

Doosan, headquartered in West Fargo, North Dakota, has expanded its Tier 4 excavator lineup with two new wheel models—the DX140W-5 and DX190W-5. The new “dash-5” excavators, which have rubber tires, target applications that require an excavator with rubber tires.

Doosan says the 132-net-horsepower DX140W-5 and 168-net-horsepower DX190W-5 wheel excavators are ideal for customers who regularly drive on finished concrete or asphalt surfaces.

A new selectable feature, SPC engine mode, is standard on both excavators. SPC consists of two systems—variable speed control and pump torque control—that work together to improve machine efficiency, while maintaining productivity and reducing fuel consumption. The engine control unit automatically manages SPC when it is engaged. Each of the four power modes will function with SPC engaged or disengaged; however, SPC can be active only in the digging work mode, Doosan clarifies.

Doosan says its DX140W-5 and DX190W-5 excavators offer customers multiple product enhancements without changing any of the performance, comfort and ease of service features of the dash-3 predecessors.

The company points out these features of the machines:

  • ergonomic joystick, which improves operator comfort and ease of use;
  • relocated rear camera that enhances rear visibility;
  • camera monitor, which allows operators to monitor machine information while the camera is on;
  • floor pedal to provide operators with optional ways to activate two-way auxiliary hydraulics; and
  • emergency stop relocated that makes it easier for operators to reach on the seat base.

The Doosan DX140W-5 and DX190W-5 wheel excavators comply with Tier 4 emission standards. Both models are fitted with Doosan DL06 diesel engines and after-treatment technologies, and do not require a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The engines are optimized for use with a high-pressure common-rail fuel delivery system and a cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) system. They use a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) to reduce particulate matter and selective catalyst reduction (SCR) after treatment to reduce nitrogen oxides. Additionally, a variety of after-treatment systems have been implemented as part of the Tier 4 compliance, such as diesel exhaust fluid, which is used with SCR technology.

Machines can be monitored via an online Doosan Telematics account. In addition, Doosan says that its dealers can provide improved customer support using the system by responding to machine warning messages and alerts, troubleshooting machine issues, and then sending a field service vehicle to help with repairs and deliver the proper parts.
