Demo Debris Catches Fire at Pa. Textile Factory

Work stops as debris ignites for second time in two days.

 

Work stopped temporarily on a demolition project at the Montex Textile factory in Allentown, Pa., when a pile of demolition debris caught fire for the second time in two days, according to the Morning Call (Allentown, Pa.).

 

An unidentified flammable substance contributed to the fire on July 26, according to the report.

 

The debris was removed and work is expected to continue on July 27.

 

According to the report, an analysis of the flammable material by the Allentown Fire Department revealed metal shavings and powder that contained two combustible elements—magnesium and phosphorous.
