Demilec recycles plastic bottles into spray foam insulation

Spray foam product manufacturer Demilec, Arlington, Texas, has announced it has recycled its 300 millionth plastic bottle into its Heatlok family of closed-cell insulation products. The company says since 2004 it has used tons of plastic containers - mostly soda and water bottles – that have been diverted from landfills and have helped offset the use of new petroleum in Demilec’s products.

“Demilec is always looking to create products that lead to a greener future. Our products are an important part of creating clean, energy-efficient living spaces, workplaces and educational environments,” says Paul Herrera, director of marketing at Demilec.

The company says construction projects that use Heatlok products may earn points in many green certification programs, including the United States Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The points can be earned for Heatlok’s recycled materials content as well as its use of renewable resources. Heatlok products also use oil from soybeans.
