Dallas Contracting Completes Demolition Services at Waste Water Plant

Company recovered steel for recycling.

Dallas Contracting Co. Inc., South Plainfield, N.J., has announced the completion of demolition services at a waste water treatment plant in Westchester County, N.Y.

The company was contracted by a general contractor to perform selective dismantlement of equipment, piping and mezzanines in the plant for a Fortune 500 client. The work needed to be conducted in phases to allow the general contractor to shutdown the front section of the plant while maintaining the back section. Items demolished included a denitrification tank, lime slurry tank, mechanical lift, associated pumps, valves, piping and mezzanines. Work had to be completed in a timely fashion so the GC could re-install the new equipment.

Dallas Contracting uses cutting torches as well as demolition saws to carefully cut the steel and metal into small, manageable pieces. Extreme care had to be taken as the crew was working in proximity to active electrical and the process lines that needed to remain intact. Fire resistant tarps were used to protect equipment and lines that were to remain.

Scrap metal was carted out of the room and into a scrap metal container.

The project was completed within a week and without incident or injury, according to a news release from Dallas Contracting.
