Dallas Contracting Co. Inc. of South Plainfield N.J., has started the demolition of a large warehouse in Newark, N.J., according to a press release from the company.
The structures to be demolished are located on a 2.68 parcel of land and include a 96,084-square-foot multi-story industrial building and a 1,060-square-foot, three-story house.
Prior to demolition, all utilities needed to be disconnected. Because of the size and age of the structure, there were more than 50 sewer and water disconnects that required street opening permits, according to the press release.
The Mack Group LLC was subcontracted to perform the asbestos abatement work on the site, which included asbestos containing roof and tile materials and some piping with ACM insulation within the buildings.
Demolition will be conducted using excavators mounted with grapple and shear attachments, skid steers mounted with demo buckets and a crew of operators and laborers. Scrap metal will be collected and recycled, and all masonry, concrete and brick will be crushed on site and used as backfill.
