Portland, Oregon-based CORE Recycling Material Recovery Facility has applied to Metro for a new license to operate a construction and demolition debris processing facility in the city. Metro plans and oversees the region's solid waste system—working with local communities and industry partners to reduce waste while managing garbage, recycling and composting in a safe and cost-effective manner.
CORE also plans to use the facility to process wood waste, which could be used by mills as boiler fuel. The solid waste facility will accept both dry and wet waste materials according to the application.
CORE currently operates a similar facility in Portland, but has applied to relocate. CORE has held a Metro license since 2011, and has operated in the city since 2013. The City of Portland has already signed off on the facility’s use.
There is an open comment period ending February 9, 2018.
