Contractors Help Calif. City Reach Recycling Goals

Local contractors’ efforts to recycle construction and demolition debris have played a major role in boosting Redding, Calif.’s overall recycling rate to 52 percent, according to a report in the Record Searchlight (Redding, Calif.).

According to the report, a major demolition project in town yielded a 75 percent recycling rate itself. Leckey Land Clearing, the firm responsible for the project, reportedly salvaged 4,000 tons of concrete, 175 tons of scrap iron and 40 tons of wood.

Another local firm, Axner Excavation, recently demolished the Casa Blanca Hotel and the House-2-Home big box store. Both projects yielded C&D for recycling, contributing to Redding’s overall rate, according to the report.
