Lawyers from John C. Holland Enterprises, which owns a private landfill in Suffolk, Va., have asked a judge to stop the regional waste authority from collecting construction debris, claiming the public agency has been collecting the material illegally for two years, according to a report in the Virginia Pilot (Norfolk, Va.).
The request would require the Southeastern Public Service Authority to stop its rubble program and seek new permits, according to the report.
Suffolk County Circuit Judge Rodham T. Delk Jr. has not ruled immediately on the request.
The request for an injunction is the latest move in a series of legal spats between Holland Enterprises and the regional waste authority, stemming from when SPSA entered the construction debris disposal industry in 2003, according to the report.
