Connecticut C&D Recycling Center Proposal Under Fire

A proposal to build a construction and demolition recycling center and transfer station on a 33-acre site in Cheshire, Conn., is facing criticism from the community, according to a report in the Republican-American (Waterbury, Conn.)

Cheshire 2004 LLC, Cheshire, Conn., the owner of an industrial park adjacent to the proposed site, has sued the Cheshire Inland, Wetland and Watercourses Commission to appeal the decision that would allow Wallinger Family Partnerships, Cheshire, Conn., to build the facility, according to the paper. The company has not requested monetary damages, reports the Republican-American.

Concerns about noise, increased traffic, odors and aesthetics have prompted nearly 150 people to sign a petition to block the project, and 57 people have signed a petition requesting the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) hold a public hearing on the matter, the paper reports.
