The Bethlehem, PA, zoning hearing board approved a plan by a resident to build and operate a concrete and asphalt recycling plant in the city. The proposed project is slated to operate in the Bethlehem Industrial Park. The hearing was held April 27th.
According to local press reports Thomas Kunsman was seeking to open the recycling plant on property he presently owns. However, a special exception permit was required because the location where he is looking to build the facility is zoned for light industry.
Kunsman expects to have between 30-40 trucks visiting the property when it is operational.
While approving the facility, the zoning board limited hours of operation to daylight hours Monday through Friday, with no crushing after 4:30 p.m. Saturday hours end at 3 p.m. and operations are prohibited on Sunday. The (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) Express-Times
