County commissioners in Jackson County, Ga., will reconsider a proposal by Earth Resources Inc. to build a construction and demolition debris landfill near Pendergrass, Ga., according to a report in the Athens Banner-Herald (Athens, Ga.).
The original proposal for the 94-acre site was made in 2000 by the Carnesville, Ga.-based company, according to the report.
The company’s request for a conditional-use permit was denied by the commissioners in 2001. But in January 2004, a superior court judge ordered the commissioners to reconsider and to “make a clear statement of which facts it relies on either granting or denying the application,” according to the report.
