CureCrete Distribution, Springville, Utah, has partnered with GreenCE Inc., Ridgefield, Washington, to launch what the companies say is the industry’s only free Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) exam prep program.
GreenCE Inc. says it is the nation’s leading provider of sustainable continuing education for design professionals with more than 100,000 subscribers. GreenCE is a U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Education Partner and AIA Education Provider.
The comprehensive curriculum will educate design professionals about green building principles and the LEED rating systems. LEED is considered the premier green building system in the world. The new LEED exam prep program features video modules, an exam simulator and other study tools.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to be the premier sponsor for GreenCE’s free LEED exam prep program. This program provides architects and specifiers with the opportunity to stay on top of their field on their time schedule and at no cost,” says Peter Wagner, supporting product specialist at CureCrete Distribution. “CureCrete Distribution, through our Ashford Formula and RetroPlate Systems for chemical densification and hardening of concrete, has been at the forefront of anticipating and addressing architects and owner’s needs when specifying concrete slabs and floors. We believe that backing their educational efforts is the perfect opportunity for us to show our support, and to say thank you.”
Education providers have been selling LEED education courses for the last decade. Although building technologies and methods of learning have radically changed during this period, the underlying model of “fee for participation” for LEED exam prep has remained the only option to date. CureCrete Distribution is helping to remove financial barriers for access to high-quality education programs.
“The LEED rating system has helped the design and construction industry accelerate the necessary transition to a sustainable built environment,” says Glen Phillips, director of sustainable education at GreenCE. “The only way to ensure that we continue this transition is to increase sustainable design literacy at all levels, from the penniless college student considering a career in architecture, to executives at the world’s largest corporations who are looking for ways to cut costs and reduce risk. With the launch of the industry’s very first no-cost LEED exam preparation course, we are doing our own small part to help welcome the leaders of tomorrow into the conversation today.”
