Columbia Steel Touts Slab Breaker Jaws

Company says equipment is designed specifically for processing slabs of material.

Columbia Steel, based in Portland, Ore., is touting its slab breaker jaws as a solution for contractors who have difficulty breaking concrete and asphalt slabs.

“Do slabs fall through your jaw crusher without being crushed, or do slabs fail to break and then create blockage?” asks Steve Dolezal, product engineering manager for Columbia Steel. “If so, it’s time to consider jaws specifically designed to handle these troublesome materials and reduce downtime.”

Columbia Steel says its slab breaker jaws are based on traditional and high-tooth jaw designs, but with additional raised slab breakers in pitch with conventionally located teeth. The number of slab breakers is proportional to the width of the crusher’s size and model, allowing the operator to set the discharge for a reasonable opening and still break slabs that otherwise would flow through the crushers, according to the company.

Columbia Steel says it supplies slab-busting wear parts for more than 70 crusher models. Their jaws are available in a standard manganese steel alloy and also in its Xtralloy premium manganese.
