The Colorado Association for Recycling has announced the recipients of its Excellence in Recycling Awards. The awards, to be given out during the association’s 2010 Summit for Recycling annual meeting June 8, recognize individuals and organizations involved in recycling.
The following individuals will be recognized for their long-term dedication, innovation, and inspiring leadership in regard to recycling in Colorado:
•Councilman Paul Lopez, City and County of Denver, District 3 – Outstanding Elected Official;
•Jeanette Papp, Recycling Citizens – Outstanding Volunteer of the Year;
•Liz Wahl, Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation – Recycler of the Year;
•Steven M. Foss, Curbside Recycling Indefinitely – Lifetime Achievement; and
•Michelle Kincheloe, Dex – Lifetime Achievement.
The following programs were recognized for their excellence in recycling and diversion and for being trendsetting programs in Colorado:
•Earthwake Club, George Washington High School – Outstanding Outreach by Educational Institution;
•City of Lone Tree – Outstanding Outreach by Municipality;
•Gallegos Sanitation – Outstanding Business Recycling/Diversion Program; and
•The City of Colorado Springs Street Division – Outstanding Government Recycling/Diversion Program;
