Columbus McKinnon (CM) Asia has announced that it has recently completed the installation of a CM Dual Speed tire shredder at Osung Resources Co.’s cement plant in Daugu, South Korea.
The stage-one machine can accept tires from passenger cars, SUVs and trucks. The shredder is expected to process between 8 to 12 tons of shredded tires per hour. The CM Dual Speed is configured to produce a 2-inch tire chip that can be used as a tire derived fuel (TDF) at Osung’s cement plant.
The cement company says it expects to process 20,000 tons of scrap tires at the cement plant this year. Su-Ui Lee, Osung president, also is president of Korea’s Waste Plastic Association.
In a CM release, Lee says he is planning to acquire another factory in a densely populated area of Korea that will allow the company to shred more tires.
