More than five months after hurricanes devastated the Gulf Coast region, debris cleanup is nearly finished in one Texas county, according to a report in the Jasper Newsboy (Jasper, Texas).
A captain in the Army Corps of Engineers tells the Newsboy that debris cleanup in Jasper County, Texas, is 99 percent complete.
According to the report, the entire cleanup should be done by March 1.
The Corps has been removing between 10,000 and 20,000 cubic yards of debris per day in Southeast Texas.
The remaining debris in Jasper County is primarily construction and demolition debris. In addition, more than 100 stumps remain for pickup in the county, according to the report.
