Rosario Marin and Rosalie Mulé have been appointed as members of the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), Sacramento. These positions require state senate confirmation and receive compensation of $117,818.
Marin was appointed treasurer of the U.S. by President George W. Bush in 2001 and served until 2003. She was previously a member of the City Council and Mayor of the City of Huntington Park from 1994 to 2001. Marin served under Governor Pete Wilson as deputy director of the Governor’s Office of Community Relations from 1997 to 1998.
She was assistant deputy director of the Department of Social Services in 1997, chair of the Council on Developmental Disabilities from 1994 to 1997, and chief of legislative affairs at the Department of Developmental Services from 1992 to 1993.
Marin has served as a member on a number of public boards and commissions including as president of the Mayors and Councils Department of the League of California Cities and vice chair of the Latin caucus, chair of the Southeast Community Development Corporation, and member of the California Film Commission. She is a member of the Special Olympics International Board of Directors, and was formerly on the Board of Governors for Community, Mission and Lincoln Hospitals and the National Association of Latino Elected Officials. Marin, 45, is a resident of Huntington Park and a registered Republican.
Mulé has been director of municipal development for Waste Management of the Inland Empire since 2003. She was previously government affairs and municipal marketing director for Waste Management of Florida and Waste Management’s Southwest Florida Division from 1998 to 2003. Mulé was government affairs and municipal marketing manager for Browning-Ferris Industries Southwest Florida Division from 1995 to 1998 and government affairs and recycling manager for Browning-Ferris Industries Hawaii Division from 1990 to 1995.
She was a program manager for the San Diego Ecology Center from 1988 to 1990 and public participation manager for the Metro II Wastewater Program in San Diego from 1980 to 1984. Mulé is currently a member of the Transportation-Infrastructure Committee at the Southwest Riverside Economic Development Corporation, the Riverside County Independent Hearing Panel on Waste Enforcement Permit Issues, and the Riverside County Task Force on Illegal Dumping.
She has been a member of a number of organizations including the Solid Waste Association of North America, the Board of Directors for Keep Florida Beautiful, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and co-founder of the Kauai Resource, Conservation and Development Council. Mulé, 47, is a resident of Temecula and a registered Republican.
