Chicago-based equity firm Code Hennessy & Simmons LLC (CHS) has announced that it has made an equity investment in Penhall International Corp., a national provider of concrete cutting, breaking and excavation and highway grinding services in the United States.
Based in Anaheim, Calif., Penhall provides a range of concrete and asphalt related services that are generally part of larger projects in the non-residential building construction and infrastructure market. Its customer base includes more than 15,000 local and national general contractors, industrial companies, government entities and municipalities.
CHS’s investment in Penhall builds on the firm’s experience in a range of infrastructure related investments. Through an investment fund formed in 1999, CHS is a majority shareholder in: American Asphalt & Grading Co, American Reprographics Co. and Gundle SLT/Environmental.
