Pitt County, North Carolina, Solid Waste and Recycling has scheduled debris removal for Dec. 5, a report by the Daily Reflector says.
The county will pick up construction and demolition (C&D) debris along the roads in designated non-municipal areas that flooded from Hurricane Matthew in October. According to the report, a previous debris pick-up occurred on Nov. 28.
The service will be provided for free for homeowners in the area, the report says. Areas included in the debris removal are listed on the Pitt County website at www.pittcountync.gov/matthew.
C&D debris includes materials from damaged buildings and structures, such as lumber, wood, tiles, insulation, pipe, glass or metal, carpet, concrete, asphalt, furnishings, fixtures, roofing material, flooring and coverings, gypsum and wallboard, windows and window coverings. According to the report, residents are advised to avoid mixing C&D debris with yard waste.
