Continental Biomass Industries (CBI), Newton, N.H., has announced the introduction of its new Magnum Force Drum Chipper.
The unit has a 12-cylinder, 1050-hp Caterpillar diesel engine with electronic control, Twin Disc hydraulically actuated clutch and a radiator equipped with an automatically reversible fan designed to prevent the cooler from clogging with dust and debris.
It also has a reversible anvil for accommodating custom chip sizes.
The chipper drum is 48 inches in diameter and 5 feet long. It weighs 10,500 pounds and rotates at 650 rpm.
The drum is attached to the drive shaft with the B-Lock shaft locking system.
Two 5-foot long knives are located 180 degrees apart on the drum. They are made of hardened tool steel and are adjustable up to 3 inches to allow for wear, re-sharpening and also provide for chip size adjustment.
The chipper box is lined with replaceable, Hardox 400 wear liners.
According to a release from CBI, the Magnum Force can process more than 500 cubic meters per hour.
