Case excavators used for long-distance bucket reach

The Case crawler excavators feature an elongated boom and arm.

Racine, Wisconsin-based Case Construction Equipment’s CX210D LR and CX250D LR crawler excavators are designed to increase operating performance for deep trenching, sloping, demolition, dredging, digging in sand or gravel pits or any application that requires long-distance bucket reach and precision. Each long reach (LR) model features an elongated boom and arm designed for increased digging capabilities in deep or long-distance digging applications, while providing the same improved responsiveness and multifunction controls of the D Series.

All Case D Series excavators come with Case ProCare, a suite of product assurances. Basic operating specifications include:

  • CX210D LR: 160 horsepower; 51,900 pounds; Max dig radius: 51 feet 2 inches; Max dig depth: 39 feet 4 inches; bucket digging force: 14,600 foot pounds
  • CX250D LR: 177 horsepower; 63,523 pounds; Max dig radius: 60 feet 1 inch; Max dig depth: 47 feet 9 inches; bucket digging force: 17,310 foot pounds

The CX210D LR and CX250D LR both employ an SCR Tier 4 final solution that is designed to provide fuel efficiency (CX210D LR – up to 9 percent, CX250D LR – up to 14 percent) without sacrificing power. SCR works without a diesel particulate filter (DPF), so there’s no DPF regeneration or associated lifetime service costs.

Faster cycle times are achieved through a new electronically controlled pump, a larger control valve and multiple sensors, the company says. These features combine with the Case intelligent hydraulic system and its four integrated control systems to make the best use of the machine’s hydraulic power and momentum.

The four systems that make up the Case intelligent hydraulic system are: boom economy control (BEC), which uses gravity during boom down and swing; auto economy control (AEC), which automatically shuts down the engine after a preset idle time; swing relief control (SWC), which reduces hydraulic power at the swing start; and spool stroke control (SSC), which adjusts hydraulic pressure during digs.

Using improvements to the spool stroke control system, the CX210D LR and CX250D LR excavators re-use hydraulic fluid whenever possible.

The D Series excavators now offer more standard features. This includes free swing for improved craning, laying or lifting of offset loads; oil sample ports for quick sampling of engine and hydraulic oils; and an easy pattern selector for the operator’s preference of ISO or SAE controls. Each D Series excavator features a fully adjustable operator station anchored by a standard heated air-ride seat and joystick controls that allow for smooth performance.

These excavators also feature an iso-mounted cab that keeps noise and vibration down and a standard rearview camera feeds a 7-inch widescreen monitor that also provides operators with real-time access to important performance parameters, including fuel consumption, operating hours and machine information.
