The Monterey, Calif., County Planning and Building Inspection Department is expected to hear a proposal by Granite Construction Co. next month on developing a quarry and concrete/asphalt recycling facility. The development is expected to include a concrete and asphalt recycling facility, a hot mix asphalt plant, a Portland cement concrete plant, as well as some roads.
According to local press reports the project is expected to take up around 333 acres of the 1,230-acre Handley Ranch, according to the company’s Environmental Impact Report.
Ross Kashiwagi, project manager for the site, said the company is seeking a conditional use permit for a total of 120 years.
The company already has submitted its EIR, although, in addition to the public hearing, it still needs to go through a host of channels before commencing construction. It will likely be a couple of years before the project begins, he added.Latest from Construction & Demolition Recycling
