C&D Landfill to Open in Louisiana

A 53-acre construction and demolition landfill is set to open in Blanchard, La., after receiving the approval of the state Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to begin operations, according to a report in the Shreveport Times (Shreveport, La.).

The landfill has faced several hurdles in the community before it was given permission to open. According to the report, some residents engaged in a letter writing campaign against the facility, voicing concerns about property values and safety.
