Investors have proposed a $25 million construction and demolition debris landfill and surface mining operation in Lowndesboro, Ala., according to a report in the Montgomery Advisor (Montgomery, Ala.).
Alabama River Partners LLC has proposed to put the project on a 900-acre site along the Alabama River near the Montgomery County-Lowndes County line. It would include a C&D landfill, sand and gravel mining operation and an inland port.
Lowndesboro Mayor Rick Pate has spoken out against the project, saying it could have a negative impact on the river and groundwater in the area.
